Seagate Releases 'Global Citizenship Annual Report' – Enterprise Storage Forum

FREMONT, Calif. — The data storage company Seagate is sharing its corporate citizenship report.
Seagate published its “Global Citizenship Annual Report” on its 2021 fiscal year, according to the company this month.
The report is intended to offer a “comprehensive look” at Seagate’s progress toward several corporate goals: meeting emission reduction targets; product stewardship; talent enablement; diversity goals; labor standards; fair trade; and in its supply chain.
In releasing its “Global Citizenship Annual Report,” Seagate also publicly established several long-term environmental sustainability goals: It pledged to power its global footprint with 100% renewable energy by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
The company is expanding its actions to support a “sustainable datasphere” and protect the environment.
Seagate’s sustainability commitments span Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and reporting standard.
“Seagate’s value of integrity compels us to take meaningful and measurable action on climate change,” said Joan Motsinger, SVP, business sustainability and transformation at Seagate.
“We publicly share our commitments, and we are well on our way to achieving these milestones both within our operations, with electricity sources, and with our suppliers and customers.”
Seagate and its peers in the market “must address the harm caused by materials depletion, power and water overuse, and waste,” said Balan Shanmuganathan, senior director of sustainability at Seagate.
